Attending: Dan, Sam, Jens (chair+mins), Winnie, RobC, Ste, Brian * It would now make sense to ask DPM sites to aim to have switched to DOME by, say, end of June. * CERN's Data Lake - Brian selectively shared a GridFTP endpoint. Jens had tried but had no permission. * IRIS: there will be an event of some kind where the 10 or so WGs are expected to present roadmaps. Specifically, it would be worth thinking about what we could do in GridPP. First, the aim is not to push "our stuff" to other communities, nor are we changing what we do; our aim remains to support WLCG. GridPP resources may be unsuitable for some of the types of work required by a more general IRIS user, e.g. high memory or fast storage or interconnect (ie HPC). However, 1. As we are funded by the same organisation (STFC), there is a push for "harmonisation", if possible 2. Some of the (r)evolutionary changes we implement for WLCG might make GridPP more suitable for the general Iris user (e.g. SKA) 3. GridPP PMB is keen that we support some non-LCG VOs, such as SKA, LIGO, LSST, DUNE, etc. 4. GridPP has a working infrastructure and it makes sense to not be shy about it 5. As a corollary, it may make sense to be able to interoperate with the other infrastructures (such as DiRAC), e.g. mediated by a common layer, whether that be Rucio or DIRAC or whatever. As a corollary to the corollary, if we want people to use GridPP we need to make sure our documentation is good. On a not unrelated note, we had a brief supplementary discussion about "grid certificates"; they have a poor reputation among the general user population, partly undeservedly - they are something you know and something you have - and partly deservedly - the tools used to manage them are rather arcane. Could we rename them "trust certificates, or "passports"? It may be too late to "sell" certificates to the general user, but the general direction for infrastructures is also to move towards federated identity management, where certificates are generated on demand (a la proxies) Daniel hi DP Paige You know if the teleport worked, you could do your lights thing so much easier... PW Good idea! Brian can you here me one sec wee need big T2Ds done by end of june at least and ipv6 for Manchester. RALPP and possibly Glasgwo yes jebs you mean vo.dirac ? "we" are part of IRIS, its not us and them... BD Ste my link is going .... SJ We're already like this in terms of funding... Brian isn't a sci token just a rebranding anyway? BD Today at 10:28 AM
