Attending: Jens (chair+mins), Brian, Daniel, Tom, Winnie, Sam, Marcus, John B, Luke, Pete, Steve 0. Operational Blog Posts A reminder to people to blog! We haven't had a post since April! Operationally speaking, is there a way to detect the WebDAV endpoints? Are they published in GLUE as service endpoints? 1. Summary of highlights (and lowlights if any) of GridPP meeting Sam's talk, of course, and Brian's talk, of course. IPv6 presentation from T1, how to present an external IPv6 to internal IPv4 (ie if all your disk servers are using IPv4 and cannot easily migrate to IPv6). Vendor presented 90 bay disk server in 4U, which would accommodate 720TB. 2. Marcus' filesystem survey? (ie any updates?) No news since last update (~ 1 week ago), would still like additional responses. Cannot prod sites as the survey is "anonymous" (ie not responding by site, or name). Only one other site (other than Edinburgh) using ZFS for grid, one more site used for non-grid. 3. Review of things for the data whatsit thing later this month. Starting from Sam's presentation, Brian has started preparing slides for Tuesday's pre-GDB. S3/SWIFT - SWIFT being the "open" S3, but does it belong to a standards body? T2C/D discussion - currently not sufficient understanding of impact of switching fully to T2C, e.g. with 2K job slots, could need 50Gb/s bandwidth to accommodate the jobs' data access needs! Brian should send slides around ASAP for comments/feedback so he has time to update them before the presentation Tuesday. 4. AOB And don't forget the plugfest, www.cloudplugfest.org Jens: (07/09/2016 10:02:39) http://uddi.xml.org/ ? www.cloudplugfest.org https://indico.cern.ch/event/556609/ Lukasz Kreczko: (10:09 AM) Bristol has an SE on IPV6. Since we do not have disk servers, it is easier ;) If you have money, next year you will get 60 TB per disk slot, so almost a PB per 4 U SSDs firealarm, gtg Marcus Ebert: (10:20 AM) https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdNYOJan_w7Hr4FUPJ1TCXjShURUsXl5np_TfWmhGUrPKFIYw/viewform Paige Winslowe Lacesso: (10:20 AM) Must dash, smell smokefr hpc machine room upstairs! Jens: (10:24 AM) http://indico.cern.ch/event/394833/ Daniel Peter Traynor: (10:27 AM) are any of thes iso/ieee standareds? Samuel Cadellin Skipsey: (10:31 AM) (Swift, is of course, the OpenStack API for Object Stores. So, I guess in that sense, it's the "open S3", if you consider OpenStack to the the Open alternative to EC2/S3 etc.) Tom Whyntie: (10:35 AM) Great, thanks Bye
