Roger Downing from STFC gave a summary of iRODS' capabilities and developments. The meeting was marred somewhat by technical problems with Vidyo, as both Roger and Jens after upgrading to the latest version had trouble (in fact were unable to) connecting. Problem has been reported to CERN who in turn has reported the problem to Vidyo. Jens: (9/24/14 9:58 AM) I\ve got roger on the phone; he's trying to get vidyo working Sorry we are a bit delayed'; roger is having trouble connecting Does anyone know if there's a phone bridge? Peter Gronbech: (10:06 AM) London (UK): +442030510622 The meeting number is Extension 9311534 To join a meeting by phone, dial one of the numbers above followed by the Vidyo meeting Numeric Extension (see here how to find a Vidyo meeting extension) followed by the "#" key. If the meeting is protected by a PIN, you will be asked to enter the PIN number (which should have been supplied directly to you by the meeting organizer) Duncan Rand: (10:09 AM) Sorry, late joining, is anyone speaking? Gareth Douglas Roy: (10:10 AM) Hi Duncan, nope... having issues with our visitor joining the meeting Duncan Rand: (10:10 AM) OK, thanks gareth Jens: (10:11 AM) https://indico.egi.eu/indico/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=2160 Ewan Mac Mahon: (10:13 AM) Ah, that looks like a phone bridge. Jens: (10:16 AM) I can hear you! Can you hear me!? Peter Gronbech: (10:16 AM) no Gareth Douglas Roy: (10:16 AM) Nope Jens: (10:16 AM) Aah! Iwhat about the video? Peter Gronbech: (10:17 AM) yes Ewan Mac Mahon: (10:17 AM) Sepmaphore! Jens: (10:17 AM) but you can't hear me at all?!? Peter Gronbech: (10:17 AM) no Ewan Mac Mahon: (10:17 AM) Nope. Jens: (10:17 AM) Yes, but it's unmuted Can someone ask Roger to start? At leastr if you can hear him and he you. Ta I will try to reconnect. Darn, I've been talking for >10mins about the EGI meetings today!!! Ewan Mac Mahon: (10:19 AM) Oh dear. I did wonder what that, apparently completely contextless, big data meeting Indico link was for. Jens Jensen: (10:20 AM) ... and I was wondering why no one commented... Duncan Rand: (10:23 AM) Not entirely contextless, it starts today. Christopher John Walker: (10:24 AM) I'm interested in looking at the Daresbury data - some of that is mine... iRods was sounding very much like SRM/LFC before the rule engine was talked about Samuel Cadellin Skipsey: (10:29 AM) The rule engine is really the "exciting" bit of iRODS. Ewan Mac Mahon: (10:30 AM) I always wonder whether it would be possible to run that bit as a separate service with (say) and SRM/webdav/S3 basic storage backend behind it. (We are, of course, going to need to say some of this out load - the phone bridge isn't going to pass the chat) Christopher John Walker: (10:40 AM) Doesn't pass to my iPad either. Which is why I'm on twice Gareth Douglas Roy: (11:01 AM) sorry I have to go have another meeting. Ewan Mac Mahon: (11:03 AM) It's a cloud object store Christopher John Walker: (11:04 AM) StoRM on top of Lustre Samuel Cadellin Skipsey: (11:05 AM) Yes. David Crooks: (11:05 AM) Sorry, I have to leave as well
