Has anyone (else) upgraded their DPM to 1.8.8? Apparently not. 1. Update on WebFTS testing - How does WebFTS do its proxy delegation? It does seem to do something slightly dodgy with the private key but the CertWizard portal code can do the same, managing the private key safely in the browser (assuming the browser is not compromised), thanks the extensive work by Dave Meredith. T2K encountered problems with using proxies with FTS, because the proxies would time out (at 12 hrs) before all the transfers were complete. Proxy renewal doesn't work. T2K might start using DIRAC. RAL FTS should certainly support dteam. FTS (3) should support multiprotocol transfers, eg SRM to gsiftp, or maybe even HTTPS - this would be worth testing. What needs changing to support other protocols? 2. Update on hepsysman? Brainstorm on what we might do with the remaining slot; * Hackathon * Get people together and give them coffee (and no email), see what happens; * Give people a challenge to solve (but what); * Tutorial - DIRAC The DIRAC tutorial seems to be the winner. But who can give it if Janusz isn't there? Members of the GridPP VO should be able to access DIRAC resources at IC. NA62 are also using DIRAC but not the file management. DIRAC support is at present 1 person at IC (viz., Janusz), so maybe not so scalable. There are also non-GridPP users of DIRAC (as you might see in the slides from the EGI CF); there are users also in the UK. 3. Worthwhile items from last week's EGI CF? Did anyone manage to go? Tom was there. There were lots of interesting things and Tom circulated a link to some slides (see chat), but the general discussion is postponed to the next meeting. 4. Jeremy sent a link around (thanks, Jeremy!) to a presentation about GFAL: https://indico.egi.eu/indico/getFile.py/access?contribId=2&resId=1&materialId=slides&confId=2189 GFAL2 supports plugins, Sam has been experimenting with implementing one. Command line tools are not direct replacements for lcg-*, they do not have the same command line options, and they are not even 1-1, eg gfal-copy replaces both lcg-cp and lcg-cr. Support for LFC seems to have deteriorated with the lack of interest from the LHC VOs; however, this is potentially bad for other VOs who do use the LFC. 5. AOB Meeting next week is cancelled as (most) people are expected to be at hepsysman John Hill: (28/05/2014 10:01:30) Not yet Jens Jensen: (10:03 AM) https://fts3oradevel01.cern.ch/submit.php Samuel Cadellin Skipsey: (10:04 AM) Sorry about being silent for the start of this meeting; my Vidyo session was insisting that there were 0 participants in the meeting (even though I could hear Jens speaking) wahid: (10:04 AM) http://fts3-service.web.cern.ch/documentation/webfts what other rivals are there in the FTS space globus online Jens Jensen: (10:05 AM) GlobusOnline wahid: (10:05 AM) indeed - anything else globus online presumably only supports gridftp no SRM ? (and certianly no xrootd or http ) Jens Jensen: (10:07 AM) Yes, globusonline is only gridftp, no SRM Samuel Cadellin Skipsey: (10:08 AM) Wahid: there are various commercial "reliable file transfer" solutions wahid: (10:09 AM) like ? what do they use to transfer - presumably not third part Samuel Cadellin Skipsey: (10:09 AM) (There's an argument that once you decide that proxies are the "right" way to delegate identity, you're never going to find a "clean" way to use them for a service like FTS without a renewal semantics.) Wahid: for ex, http://www.tibco.co.uk/products/automation/application-integration/managed-file-transfer/default.jsp wahid: (10:11 AM) cool thanks Ewan Mac Mahon: (10:18 AM) So, do we need to create a non-SRM SE type in gocdb? Maybe a 'classic' SE? Samuel Cadellin Skipsey: (10:19 AM) I think we should call them "vintage", Ewan. Jens Jensen: (10:19 AM) :-) http://hepwww.rl.ac.uk/SYSMAN/June2014/main.html https://indico.egi.eu/indico/getFile.py/access?contribId=2&resId=1&materialId=slides&confId=2189 Just like globus XIO? Ewan Mac Mahon: (10:27 AM) Can it register things with the dirac file catalogue? Tom Whyntie: (10:27 AM) DiRAC has its own file catalog system Duncan Rand: (10:28 AM) ATLAS moving to rucio RFC Jeremy Coles: (10:29 AM) To be fair the LHC VOs were consulted ahead of decisions about gfal-utils. Jens Jensen: (10:31 AM) LHC VOs != non-LHC VOs (by definition..) Jeremy Coles: (10:31 AM) ATLAS was mentioned.... Ewan Mac Mahon: (10:31 AM) Nuts to atlas. They can look after themselves. Samuel Cadellin Skipsey: (10:32 AM) http://diracgrid.org/files/docs/UserGuide/Tutorials/FileCatalogBasic/index.html for example Or, with standalone commands: dirac-dms-add-file [My plan when fiddling with Dirac's data management was to add some parallel file distribution to it.] Ewan Mac Mahon: (10:37 AM) We need to be careful to make sure that everyone knows that the Imperial one is a pilot (as it were) ssytem. We could also consider using this EGI one, but I'm not sure that's any better. Are dirac using dirac? Tom Whyntie: (10:39 AM) Yup, absolutely Ewan Mac Mahon: (10:43 AM) Alternatively, we migrate everyone to the DanFileCatalogue. It's still a dfc. wahid: (10:45 AM) I've got to go to another meeting now -sorry see you soon.... bye... Ewan Mac Mahon: (10:46 AM) We need to 'translate' the grid crash course doc to dirac speak, or something like that. Tom Whyntie: (10:48 AM) Link to the Ops meeting agenda with my #EGICF14 slides: http://indico.cern.ch/event/321699/ The slides themselves (PDF): http://indico.cern.ch/event/321699/contribution/2/material/slides/0.pdf
