Attending: Govind John B Rob Wahid John H Chris Robert Gareth Sam Matt Brian Ewan Dave 'Pols: None 0. We have a grand total of zero blog posts - perhaps a metric we need to revisit for GridPP5, but it was intended to be a lighter weight way of publishing Good Stuff(tm) rather than having to write up a paper or a technical report (or in addition to, to publicise it more widely). The idea principle is still a good one (probably), but the implementation isn't quite working - but then we're doing OK on the other metrics. 1. Upgrade should be OK now to 1.8.7, or by the time you get around to upgrading. Ewan and Raul have 1.8.7s, or will be having shortly. Problem is that there may be older packages from EMI with priority over EPEL. 2. This is a dual entry: both covering our input to GridPP31, and, more generally, to GridPP5. In GridPP4, the proposal called for 4 FTEs for storage and data management (two Glasgow, one Ed., one RAL), plus 0.2 networking. Clearly we have done not too badly with three; and we note there are new challenges coming up so we will (need to) make the case that we cannot reduce the effort without impacting or risking the delivery of services. General points: - that we are meeting the needs of the experiments; - that our stuff is aligned with e-Science activities, European and globally; - Case for big data; - Biomed - catalogue synchronisation Turns out there is a catalogue synchronisation tool which is not syncat-protocol but syncat WG; based on message passing. Would be possible (and useful) to pilot in the UK, with Grid Services at T1 participating - requires running stuff in the infrastructure which so far generally isn't available. 3. No worries generally about the ATLAS space token stuff. Generally sites are responding (when required) in a timely manner. Not a blocking issue. 4. Skipped the round table so people who feel so inclined can attend the GDB talk on WebDAV. 5. Govind asked questions about R510 - ask again on list Jens actioned to notify tb-support and gridpp-storage about the CASTOR WebDAV talk. Jens at EGI next week but will attempt to phone home at the right time, schedule and networks permitting. [10:08:14] Jens Jensen https://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=271527 [10:12:22] Wahid Bhimji Which we are (for xroot) [10:12:33] Sam Skipsey and a bit for SSDs, actually [10:13:43] Ewan Mac Mahon We should. [10:18:22] Ewan Mac Mahon EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE! [10:20:30] Jens Jensen [10:20:34] Christopher Walker Dave, your sound is appalling. Can you get a proper headset or microphone or something [10:22:14] Govind Songara Does R510 need any PERC/IDrac firmware upgrade required for SL6 upgrade? [10:28:12] Sam Skipsey (On things we're actually ahead of the game on, IPv6 stuff for storage, too) [10:29:22] Christopher Walker Note Wahid's comment that there is an ATLAS webdav talk starting in 5 mins [10:29:41] Brian Davies tryiong to fidn mute button [10:30:59] Wahid Bhimji I am listening to GDB at the same time - they are still on ALICE for your info [10:31:24] Wahid Bhimji when they switch to Webdav I will pop along [10:31:27] Christopher Walker Can you let us know when they move... [10:33:58] Jens Jensen http://indico.cern.ch/getFile.py/access?contribId=0&resId=0&materialId=slides&confId=268067 [10:34:21] Wahid Bhimji bye - gotto go sorry [10:35:02] Christopher Walker Bye
