Present: Gareth, David, Sam, John H, John B, Robert, Ewan, Elena, Wahid, Sam, Jeremy, Mark N, Jens, Steve, Brian Round table. Gareth, David, and Sam. Looking at Hadoop and HDFS: Sam is looking at DMLite with HDFS backend; also seems to work with IPv6. Working on DPM upgrade and providing local xroot access. Monitoring performance with Graphite. Wahid: ongoing planning for workshop at IC at the end of June. Also working on various DPM things, protocols, and getting into development. Elena - problem with storage, investigating. John B - kernel upgrade, ATLAS moved to xroot, seems to perform well. How would we get FUSE/NFS/POSIX? Sam tested NFS for DPM, it worked. There is also a GFAL2-Fuse interface. And xroot-fuse. And WebDAV. Which would we recommend? OSG are using the xroot approach. Sam points out that "working" is usually the opposite of "interesting" Steve - nothing special, mainly SL6 John H - xroot working. Should be publishing the redirection analysis data. Mark - mike trouble. Jeremy - nothing storage related. Ewan - Noted that R510s are being discontinued and investigating what should replace them, currently looking at single quad-core CPU server. (trouble with mike) Brian - monitoring transfer rates. Looking at FTS - capacity issues. Can we use FTS with other transfer protocols? WOuld require FTS3 clients installed which RAL now has at a UI. Jens - apart from bigdata workshop, also iRODS (for EUDAT), data services on DMF including more "agile" services for new customers. Non-LCG users want SSO (and T1 has Hadoop) Chat log [10:12:00] Wahid Bhimji hello [10:14:18] Wahid Bhimji Can I have access to your hadoop resources [10:16:55] Wahid Bhimji perhaps via gfal/fuse you could put it on non-phyiscs users [10:18:22] Sam Skipsey So, yes, I was looking into that: there's a bunch of OSG documentation on that I found. [10:20:46] Wahid Bhimji let me know if you need assistance [10:27:27] Mark Norman sorry, mike is dead. [10:27:37] Ewan Mac Mahon Oh no, poor Mike [10:27:39] Steve Jones He's had a technical problem. Mark is helping me with SL6 etc. [10:28:07] Jens Jensen ta [10:28:09] Mark Norman heh [10:28:21] John Bland sam, wahid: by xrootd fuse, I assume you mean the xrootdfs, which I had a quick look at but it didn't seem particulalrly stable (at least the way I was using it) [10:28:51] Sam Skipsey Indeed. That's interesting, because it seems to get recommended by OSG, as I said. Disappointing if it's actually a bit useless. [10:28:58] Ewan Mac Mahon Just a mo.... [10:29:03] Sam Skipsey I think I'd try WebDAV next. [10:29:04] Ewan Mac Mahon My Mike also unhappy.... [10:29:34] Ewan Mac Mahon I'm going to go out an back in..... [10:30:31] John Bland sam; I'll probably give it another try, IIRC it was ok for listings, transfers didn't work. Again, might be my setup. [10:31:09] Sam Skipsey Hmm... were you talking to the local xrootd service or the federated service? [10:32:01] John Bland not sure, I had to guess some of the settings, could have been either. [10:32:14] Wahid Bhimji If you want to go the gfal way then here is the link [10:32:15] Wahid Bhimji https://svnweb.cern.ch/trac/lcgutil/wiki/gfalfs [10:32:32] Sam Skipsey Righto, well, I'm probably going to be trying xrootdfs soonish (by the end of the week), so I'll let you know how I get on. [10:32:42] Wahid Bhimji its fairly straightforward - I tried it a while back but again only functionality not with any anger [10:33:02] Ewan Mac Mahon I'm back! [10:33:31] Wahid Bhimji Sean crosby the australian said he was using it (gfal2fs ) for local users - so he may be a good contact [10:35:14] Ewan Mac Mahon Bugger. [10:35:46] Wahid Bhimji not jamie though [10:36:39] Wahid Bhimji Desy [10:36:42] Wahid Bhimji David South [10:36:46] Ewan Mac Mahon Right; I think I'm back again, but it's being very odd. Looks like a local problem rather than EVO though. [10:38:23] Ewan Mac Mahon SOunds like a plan [10:39:26] Jens Jensen Storage related - or dCache evaluation [10:39:40] Jens Jensen I can hear you L&C [10:41:04] Wahid Bhimji FTS3 testing with xrootd (or http ) possible yet ? [10:41:40] Jens Jensen Should we get Andrew Lahiff to attend [10:42:07] Wahid Bhimji please do - with ecdf for example - I'd be happy - what happens with the spacetoken then [10:43:51] John Bland t'ra [10:43:55] Wahid Bhimji bye
