Wahid, David, Mark, Stephen, Govind, Sam, Jens, Chris, Elena, Brian, Matt, Ewan. GDB: Update on the storage TEG Also discussed software upgrades, and managing different size filesystems. Security TEG: glexec, AAI on WN * Hardware purchasing - did anyone report back? Purchase planning - big sites not planning to buy a lot, but smaller sites may. * Anything we definitely need to do before the end of the year, eg changes to space tokens? Sam: Prices of HD going up - probably stable for some HDs, others are going up - will probably not do much better than prev. round. Not likely to get cheaper any time soon, worst case till end of 2012. Chris will need to buy some storage. In general, less pressure at the moment. * EMI upgrades - are we happy(er)? Alessandra happier with MySQL upgrade (5.5). Changes with YAIM required. Sam performed the EMI upgrade in-place, and it worked, except for some minor niggles. Some configuration files did not get removed with the old RPMs. Everyone should move to 1.8.2 though. May need to do a separate glite to EMI upgrade later. * Moving files in DPM - has anyone If T2K don't tell us they need it, then they will not get it. Space tokens are not quotas, even if they were designed to be it in SRM. Quotas can be implemented only by allocating pools directly. StoRM seems to make them like quotas. Also earlier an issue with ATLAS who had good data not associated with a space token. Which reminds us to remind Jens to check with NGS how they obtained their GridFTP endpoints in GridPP. * GridPP and non-HEP data? Number of users? Volume of data. Most of the non-LHC is still HEP. At a low level, it is possible to support non-HEP - do we? Should we advertise this more widely? How much should we provide? 10% non-LHC, eg Pheno, T2K, SNO+. PMB do not seem enthusiastic about non-LHC, though. Could also spend more time to link up with NGS? Or was this cut, in terms of manpower. * Round table of updates (storage related stuff only, please) AOB. Some ATLAS space token changes, getting space into GROUPDISK, others are reductions. Also intending a spring clean (come spring) of the orphaned data. I [10:07:27] Elena Korolkova We we looking at the disk prices at 2 and 3 Tb disks and they were nearly the same [10:09:20] Brian Davies joined [10:10:49] Wahid Bhimji For the filesystem weights : Ricardo has confirmed to me that it is an argument to dpm-modifyfs [10:11:09] Wahid Bhimji so Govind that should be all you need and hopefully the man page explains which flag [10:14:13] David Crooks I'm going to have to step off the meeting - I have a heating engineer who will be here shortly [10:14:23] David Crooks left [10:14:25] Govind Songara Thanks Wahid.. It is good to have documentation for mane page [10:14:39] Matthew Doidge joined [10:14:43] Govind Songara mane ~= man [10:16:02] Elena Korolkova what is the link? [10:16:04] Wahid Bhimji what do you mean . If you install it and then do man dpm-modifyfs [10:17:00] Ewan Mac Mahon joined [10:17:16] Ewan Mac Mahon Morning. Sorry I'm late. [10:18:36] Wahid Bhimji we've talked about this way to much for something we are not doing. [10:19:01] Sam Skipsey (Unfortunately, the link to the online dpm man pages hasn't been updated to the 1.8.2 release.) [10:19:25] Elena Korolkova Can we ask ops to use spacetoken? [10:19:28] Wahid Bhimji I will ask dpm developers to put it on their roadmap and do it properly [10:19:40] Elena Korolkova for nagios tests? [10:20:29] Ewan Mac Mahon It's both isn't it? [10:20:47] Elena Korolkova then sam tests wouldn't fail and atlas is safe with spacetokens [10:20:57] Ewan Mac Mahon AIUI You can't write more than 10Tb into a 10Tb token. [10:20:58] Govind Songara @Wahid.. If someone want to know the options in advance without installing.. then man page will be helpfull.. [10:21:16] Wahid Bhimji ok - I will ask the dpm guys to upload one to the web [10:23:42] Elena Korolkova t2k doesn't have manpower [10:26:28] Ewan Mac Mahon Was it a bug? [10:28:24] Wahid Bhimji sorry I have to leave for another meeting at 10.30. sorry also I'm off next week so I guess its Merry Christmas from me. [10:29:20] Wahid Bhimji In terms of storage activities for me its mainly the Storage TEG; also some Atlas IO testing ; polishing off Dell whitepaper , a bit of ECDF srm mysql tuning [10:30:53] Wahid Bhimji sorry - gotto go - only time atlas people would allow me to poke them on storage TEG answers - bye [10:31:15] Wahid Bhimji left [10:33:29] Elena Korolkova in Sheffiled t2k is using about 10% but these 10% were funded by t2k [10:34:32] Govind Songara left [10:36:51] Brian Davies http://www.ngs.ac.uk/aboutUs [10:37:06] Ewan Mac Mahon *cough*Wallom*couch* [10:41:21] Brian Davies left
