dCache dCache was originally written by DESY to manage disk pools. Then people from
Fermilab added an SRM 1.1 layer on top of it.
This means that we can deploy dCache both as an SRM interface to disk, and as a disk pool
management system. We have also interfaced dCache to RAL’s Tapestore.
